Facebook personal profiles are supposed to be used for and represent individuals, not businesses or organizations. Facebook pages for organizations, businesses, brands, etc. allow multiple page administrators, having multiple custom page tabs and get post and page visitor statistics. If you would like to create a business, brand or organization such as United Way you should have a business page on Facebook, NOT a personal profile.
Please see the Facebook help center or terms pages if you would like more information.
Step 1.
Go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php to begin creating a Facebook page.
Step 2.
If you are an organization click on Company, Organization or Institution.

Step 3.
Choose a category and enter your organization name. Click the "Get Started" button.
Step 4.
If you already have a personal Facebook account choose that option and login to your Facebook account.
If you do not have a Facebook account fill out the form to create a new personal Facebook account and click the "Sign Up Now" button.
Step 5
After you either login or create a Facebook account your page will be created. You can either complete the Facebook 3 step process or access your new Facebook page at a later time to work on the page. To access your Facebook page you can either select the page from the Facebook navigation on the left side of your Facebook home page or or go directly to your pages using this url: http://www.facebook.com/bookmarks/pages
